We are delighted to announce starting in July 2025 we will be delivering a new project THH-Reducing Veteran Homelessness across the Liverpool city region. The project, funded by The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (AFCFT) will provide supported housing for up to 25 homeless veterans with addiction and mental health problems. Veterans will be empowered to address their issues via pathways specifically designed to have them tenancy ready and sustain independent living – thus stopping the revolving door of veteran homelessness. Our key priority is tackling bottlenecks and roadblocks in the housing and veteran support system.
Taking a person centred and systems-based approach, we will work alongside veterans with complex needs, helping them to address the root causes of homelessness and preparing them for long term stable tenancies. We will work closely with our sister project The Bridge House Project together with The Block, Armed Forces Foundation, and the project will run for an initial 9 months, supporting the most vulnerable veterans in our community who have consistently fallen through the cracks in the system.
Over the last 3 years alone, we have supported 130 homeless veterans with addictions, delivering a comprehensive and integrated programme within drug/alcohol free homes. These homes are “safe havens”, and our CQC regulated programme includes access to veteran specific residential addiction treatment, high quality supported accommodation, wellbeing activities, trauma informed counselling, volunteering, peer mentor training, residential therapeutic retreats and access to mutual aid sessions. This support has led to 81% of our homeless veterans moving on from us into social housing and living independently.
